Finding Ted Baker We had to raise an eyebrow a la Roger Moore when we found out there is no Ted Baker in real life and there never has been and, what’s more, the brand was founded in … wait for it … Glasgow! Hoots mon, indeed. Still that shouldn’t detract from the lovely wares the company habitually produces and we’re loving the bags this season, including the Merando tan weekend bag (above left; HK$3,050) and the navy Radayo bag (above right; HK$1,695). Ted Baker is in Pacific Place, Admiralty, tel: 2918 9609.

Flights of fancy Here at The goods we try to be impartial with the brands we feature, but sometimes you just have to declare your true love. Amsterdam’s finest, Scotch & Soda, can do no wrong in our eyes and it’s done it once again with bang-on-trend bomber jackets, including this little puppy (above left; HK$2,600), which, with its patches, should appeal to wannabe flyboys. The quilted chambray jacket (above right; HK$3,150), with lovely canvas details, is another winner. Scotch & Soda is in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2118 3963.

Dunhill may be a hit among mature, sartorially risk-averse gentlemen, but creative director John Ray, a former menswear designer at Gucci, has injected a wonderful dash of youth and a splash of colour into the collections. We love this relaxed look of red silk/linen herringbone double-breasted jacket (HK$25,200), ecru silk polo shirt (HK$6,450), khaki cotton twill trousers (HK$5,750), brown check silk pocket square (HK$850) and navy stripe socks (HK$450; above right). We're also fans of this debonair ensemble of tan and black silk cotton houndstooth coat (HK$31,500), white cotton jeans (HK$4,550) and rust Pima-cotton ribbed socks (HK$450; all above left). The price for the blue cotton leisure shirt has yet to be confirmed for Hong Kong. Dunhill is in Prince's Building, Central, tel: 2524 3663.
