Make your mark with Faber-Castell's Pen of the Year
Abid Rahman

Royal affair Faber-Castell must be the most successful pen company in the world, as every year it lands the Pen of the Year title. Wait a minute, it says here it's the only brand in the running! Anyway, the 2015 Faber-Castell Pen of the Year is rather fancy and inspired by the New Palace of Sanssouci, in Potsdam, Germany. The fountain pen (above; HK$43,000) is limited to 1,000 pieces, the gold rollerball (top; HK$80,000) to 30 pieces and the plated rollerball (above centre; HK$40,000) to 300 pieces. Faber-Castell is available at Prints, Prince's Building, Central, tel: 2523 9811.

Born again Ever since Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, the cats behind hipster emporium Opening Ceremony, became creative directors at Kenzo, the brand has vaulted back into must-have status. From the spring-summer collection, we love this messed-up blazer (above left; HK$8,990) and the future-retro patterned shirt (above right; HK$2,860). Kenzo is available at Harvey Nichols, The Landmark, Central, tel: 3695 3388.

Despite all the fancy-schmancy knick-knacks it now offers (think candles, lamps, etc), clothes are still what Club Monaco does best and we have a weakness for its simple but tasteful aesthetic. We particularly love the look of marled crewneck (HK$1,190), trendy hopsack bomber jacket (HK$3,290), chinos (HK$990), braided suede belt (HK$790) and special-edition Club Monaco x Saucony trainers (HK$1,490; all above left). We're also fans of the cashmere blazer (HK$8,490), chinos (HK$1,090) and striped dress shirt (HK$1,090; all above right). The shoes, sadly, aren't available in Hong Kong. Club Monaco is at 16 Queen's Road Central, tel: 2118 2987.
