Brilliant minds If diamonds are a girl’s best friend, then De Beers is every woman’s BFF … because a diamond is forever, get it? Anyways, the jeweller says there’s more to choosing the right rock than checking the four Cs (carat, cut, colour and clarity). De Beers Iris is a device designed to show customers what the experts see when measuring the brilliance of a diamond. To see how the Iris works, head to the company’s store in The Landmark (Central, tel: 2118 2321) and inspect the gorgeous Phenomena Glacier earrings (above right; HK$855,000) and three-row bracelet (above left; HK$665,000). Peek-a-boo Now in its second year, London label Self-Portrait excels at intensely detailed dresses in cut-out and sheer fabrics, which are both feminine and whimsical, with full pleated skirts and raw lace edges decorating many a hem and cuff. If you are looking to turn heads, there's the Liliana dress (above left; HK$3,580), with transparent lace trims and honeycomb mesh. The feminine Azaelea dress (above right; HK$2,675) would be perfect for a picnic in the sun. Self-Portrait is available at net-a-porter.com . Dead beckoning With the warm weather just around the corner, sandals and slip-ons are back in play and we have been eyeing Charlotte Olympia's new Mexico-inspired collection. Technicolour florals, jalapeno anklets and Day of the Dead skulls abound, alongside variations of the label's famous kitten flats and other new and quirky designs in PVC, denim and woven leather. Inject a shot of colour into an outfit with the embroidered Day of the Dead suede slip-on (above left; HK$7,550) or keep it simple with the Lupita raffia skull PVC sandal (above right; HK$6,400). Charlotte Olympia is available at On Pedder in Lane Crawford, IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2118 2288.
