Protagonist has chic, minimalist and beautifully fitted pieces

Who founded it? After graduating from the State University of New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology, Kate Wendelborn honed her craft at underwear brand VPL. In 2013, she launched Protagonist, a nod to old-school tailoring with a straightforward colour palette, and made it available at The Line, a luxury e-commerce site founded by her twin sister, Morgan.
Why we love it: the pieces are chic, minimalist and beautifully fitted. Wendelborn’s expertise in patternmaking is evident in the strong cuts and clean silhouettes of the designs.
What we’d pick: the cotton-blend crepe coat (top left; HK$15,975) and the pleated cotton-poplin shirt (right; HK$5,615) should be staples in every minimalism purist’s wardrobe. But, if you are looking to turn up the heat, there’s the sexy, openback, cotton-poplin top (top right; HK$4,490).
