Amp up the volume with Beats by Dre, Prada, and Wooster & Lardini

Abid Rahman runs his eye over some of the newest trends in men's fashion

Music to the ears Now Beats belongs to Apple, presumably the latter will absorb the music streaming service Beats Music. If so The goods wonders what will happen to the hugely successful accessories that, despite being favoured by tonedeaf salarymen who want to look “cool”, are still the business when it comes to listening to music on the go. So, for now at least, let’s enjoy each update, including the limited-edition Solo2 wireless on-ear headphones that come in three new colours; space grey (above left), silver and gold (above right; HK$2,598 a pair). Beats by Dre is available at HMV, iSquare, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Wooster meister Menswear buyer Nickelson “Nick” Wooster may not be a household name, but the diminutive Kansan is arguably the most influential person in menswear. Just google Nick Wooster + David Beckham and you could make a case that the ex-footballerturned- fashion icon (and, in turn, millions of impressionable men around the world sporting neat back and side haircuts and pocket squares), has largely lifted his style from Wooster. Outside of peacocking, Wooster’s day job increasingly involves designing clothes and he has a collection out with Italian house Lardini that reflects his great taste and eye for detail. We love the striped knitted cotton cardigan (above left; HK$4,441) and the striped seersucker jacket (above right; HK$5,443). Wooster & Lardini is available at www.mrporter.com.

Prada has an uncanny ability to associate itself with buzzy, up-and-coming actors. For the spring-summer men's collection, the Milan-based brand drafted in Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller and, the most talented of the lot, Jack O'Connell, to front its campaigns. Luckily, the clothes are just as good as the talent. From a collection with a number of winning looks, we picked out this 1970s-inspired look of aquamarine jacket (HK$27,850), patterned shirt (HK$5,800), knitted top (HK$33,200), trousers (HK$10,050), belt (HK$3,600) and shoes (HK$7,200; all above right). We also love this denim-heavy look of jacket (HK$23,100), trousers (HK$7,700), shirt (HK$5,800), knitted top (HK$6,500), belt (HK$3,600) and sandals (HK$8,200; all above left). Prada is in IFC Mall, Central.
