A mixed bag: Father's Day gifts; masculine candles; Vespa by Armani

Abid Rahman

Burning desire Like Philippe Starck and Michael Young, Tom Dixon falls into that elite bracket of industrial designers who could sell a stapler if their name was stamped on it. That's not to say it's all frivolous marketing, quite the contrary; Dixon just makes the everyday object look and feel better. We particularly like his very masculine candle collection that comes in three types of scents and metal containers (above; HK$840 each). Tom Dixon is available at Lane Crawford, IFC Mall, Central.

Leather forecast If you're lacking inspiration for Father's Day gifts, you can never go wrong with small leather goods (also known as male kryptonite). We love Georg Jensen's black leather cardholder with a classy purple trim (above right; HK$1,600) and the black leather billfold wallet with fancy-schmancy yellow ochre trim and which also features a handy coin pocket (above left; HK$3,800). Georg Jensen is in IFC Mall.

The tyranny of skinny jeans is finally over, if the spring-summer menswear collections coming out of Milan are to be believed. Ermenegildo Zegna, in particular, has gone loosey goosey. This flowing look is typical of Zegna this season and features a navy double-face cashmere oversized coat with striped revers (HK$66,900) over a navy double-face cashmere striped jacket (HK$53,300), navy wool trousers (HK$12,600), white calf leather slip-on trainers (HK$5,800; all above right); the price of the cotton vest is yet to be confirmed. We also like this loose look of khaki wool gabardine jacket (HK$37,600), green superfine cotton long sleeve polo (HK$12,300) and blue wool trousers (HK$12,600), finished off with a cotton print bandana (HK$1,800) and brown leather slip-on trainers (HK$5,800; all above left). Ermenegildo Zegna is in IFC Mall.

Take Armani for a ride Giorgio Armani is one of those annoying people who can turn his hand to anything. Hotels, bookshops, florists and, let’s not forget, clothes. Now he has gone and designed himself a scooter in a collaboration with Italian marque Vespa. The one-off limited edition Vespa 946 Emporio Armani, and the accompanying capsule collection of clothes and accessories, celebrates the 40th anniversary of Giorgio Armani as well as the 130th anniversary of the Piaggio Group, parent company of Vespa. Prices are available upon request. Emporio Armani is in Chater House, Central.
