Luxury leather house Jitrois channels your inner dominatrix

Daniel Kong profiles French luxury label with a leaning towards the theatrical

French luxury leather label Jitrois was founded in 1983 by Jean Claude Jitrois. His upbringing influenced his fashion style. His grandmother, with whom he spent much of his formative years, exposed the young Jitrois to opera and theatre, which led him to acquire a taste for costume and culture. His father, who was a pilot in the French Air Force, possessed an aviator jacket heavily decorated with medals, which Jitrois was strictly forbidden to play with. The garment became an object of fascination for Jitrois, and ignited a passion for all things leather.

in 1995, the brand revolutionised the fashion industry by producing the first stretch leather. For its latest collection, Jitrois pays homage to The Palace, the Parisian equivalent of infamous New York nightclub Studio 54. Titled Lucid Wonderland, the collection is inspired by the dark underworld of wild party girls, and blurs the lines between glamour, rock, punk and disco.

the angora and leather white dress (above right; HK$17,500) is unbelievably fluffy and soft. Or channel your inner dominatrix with the black leather dress with zipper details (above centre; HK$32,500). For the wild party animal, we suggest the storming red dress (above  left; HK$41,000).

Jitrois is in Prince's Building, Central.
