From gloves to sleepwear, the latest in men's fashion by Canali, Theory and Schiesser
Abid Rahman
Winter colours are usually muted and for some reason wearing hot pink and electric blue on Christmas Eve is frowned upon. Still a lack of colour isn't all bad. If anything, it's nice to quieten things down a little. Theory is resoundingly good at making clothes with a restrained colour palette, and the standouts from the brand's winter collection include the big green-grey padded raincoat with fur collar trim (HK$9,750), suit jacket (HK$5,350), shirt (HK$2,200) and trousers (HK$2,400; all above). If that is too flat for your tastes, then opt for simple navy. We like this look of casual two-button jacket (HK$2,400), zip-up top (HK$2,800) and trousers (HK$2,200; all below). Theory is in IFC Mall, Central.
How deep is your glove So you’ve got the winter overcoat, hat, boots and scarf. All that you’re missing now is a decent set of gloves. Do you go cheap and get a practical pair from one of the high-street stores or do you invest a little and get something that will make a statement? It’s not hard to guess where The goods stands on this conundrum. We demand you get yourself some eye-catching Canali gloves. For the extrovert, there’s the burgundy and red suede pair (below left; HK$4,800) and, for the refined, there’s the grey shearling and suede pair (below right; HK$5,400). Canali is at 20 Pedder Street, Central.
Sweet dreams We don't often do nightwear and undergarments here as, to be honest, you can't really go wrong with Marks & Spencer for that sort of thing. However, if you're looking to push the boat out on some special pyjamas or looking for a gift idea or two, then Schiesser could be the brand for you. The German label has lots to choose from but we recommend the classy silk and wool blend pyjamas (below right; HK$1,780) and the body-hugging winter warmer set (below left; HK$900). Schiesser is available at Sogo, 555 Hennessy Road, Causeway Bay.
