Bean human If anything is good enough for George Clooney then, really, it’s good enough for any man, because, let’s face it, George is more man than all of us other men put together. Clooney loves Nespresso passionately, we assume entirely innocently and not because he’s paid a fortune to do so, and the Pixie Clips system (above and right; HK$1,988) caught our eye as you can change the side panels to suit your kitchen decor or pick something “wacky” (please don’t do “wacky”). Nespresso is in IFC Mall, Central.
Trench awefare One of our guilty pleasures is the Phil Collins album “No Jacket Required” (yes, we know, but Sussudio!) even though we’ve never really liked the album title. A jacket is required at all times and to hell with the weather. OK, that’s off our chest. Anyway, bomber jackets are the thing at the moment but The goods still has a fancy for menswear classics such as the trench coat and we’re pleased as punch that Hermès has created this wool and cotton blend beauty as a highlight piece this season. This ensemble sees the taupe trench (HK$35,100) matched with totally OTT mink jogging pants (HK$274,200), cashmere scarf (HK$3,300) and calfskin shoes (HK$8,100; all below left). Sadly, the crewneck pullover isn’t available in Hong Kong. Hermès’ print selection this season may put off some but we love the use of blue madras check for this two-button jacket (HK$24,100), with the look finished off with a turtleneck pullover (HK$14,100), plum cotton trousers (HK$5,300) and the calfskin leather shoes (HK$8,100; all below right). Hermès is in Pacific Place, Admiralty.
Cracking cases January is a great month as you don’t have too long to dwell on your post-holiday blues before it’s Lunar New Year and you can jet off somewhere nice again. All this hectic travel means you’ll need sturdy and dependable luggage and Tumi makes the best around, in fact it goes a little overboard but better safe than sorry. We recommend the incredibly light but pretty indestructible Tegra-Lite collection, with our picks being the carry-on wheeled briefcase (below left; HK$6,190) and the expandable carry-on suitcase (below right; HK$7,090). Tumi is in IFC Mall, Central.
