Who started it? Born and raised in Belgium, Joelle Savransky grew up surrounded by jewels – she hails from a family of diamond dealers and her sister, Audrey, is the founder of jewellery brand AS29. Although Savransky studied fashion design at Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts, she eventually caught the jewellery bug and, in 2005, founded Ma Petite Cherie, a line for mothers and daughters. In 2013, she launched a second label, Joelle Jewellery, featuring feminine yet cutting edge designs.
Why we love it: Savransky’s designs have a definite fashion edge but also a timeless quality. Her styles have been inspired by favourites from her personal collection, such as an antique brooch from her grandmother, making them modern heirlooms so to speak. And while she tends to favour more feminine and classic motifs – including leaves, flowers and lace – she adds a punk twist through innovative silhouettes, such as ear cuffs that slide onto the ear, and knuckle and full finger rings. The collection is made from sterling silver and diamonds, but customers can also special order pieces in 18-carat gold.
What we’d pick: classics with a twist include the modern Hoops Hoops earrings (top left; HK$30,070 per piece), which wraps around the ear; the baroque Antik two-finger ring (top right; HK$25,750) and the Twist bangle (above right; HK$66,030). If you are after an edgier look, try the Piercing earring (above, far right; HK$57,550).
Where can I get it in Hong Kong? Joelle Jewellery is available at On Pedder, New World Tower, Central.
