The Dictator | Great leather jackets, and shimmery make-up that doesn’t make you look like a Kardashian
How to choose a leather biker, racer or varsity jacket (but never a blazer); plus blushes with just the right amount of sparkle

You’ll never convince me to wear leather pants, but I have been looking for a leather jacket for ages. Guidelines?

Saint Laurent captures the attitude in its plain but luxe leather biker jackets (from HK$35,500). Claudie Pierlot’s black leather bikers come with or without quilting (HK$5,190 to HK$6,160). Topshop makes them real or faux to suit all budgets (HK$559 to HK$1,899). The racer jacket, featuring a short stand-up collar and straight, centred zip, is generally sleeker and more elegant. Massimo Dutti’s are gorgeous in black or brown leather (HK$2,590), part of a surprisingly broad leather jacket collection. Alice & Olivia’s comes with gold hardware (HK$8,750). Loose zippered bomber, varsity or baseball jackets are still popular, too. Helmut Lang does the look justice in black lambskin (HK$14,400; Lane Crawford), while Coach takes a playful approach (from HK$8,150). Gucci’s this season is a classic on the front with a beaded and bejewelled tiger head on the back (HK$49,000).
Beyond those, the possibilities are only limited by your imagination and bank account. Burberry has re-imagined its trench as a leather jacket (HK$26,500). Céline has a puffy, black “paper-weight” calfskin cape with ruched edges for a mere HK$38,000. Just avoid the leather blazer, or risk looking like a 90s mobster.

I’ve always been afraid shimmery make-up would make me look like a Kardashian. However, I saw someone with slightly sparkly cheeks that looked nice. Do they sell that sort of blush or is it a trick?
