New York Fashion Week may have lost its lustre but one of the best moments of the season was the first show by Japanese designer Tomo Koizumi, who delighted jaded editors with his candy-coloured tulle confections.

Fifty-year-old Christy Turlington, one of the original 1990s supermodels, closed the Marc Jacobs show at New York Fashion Week, more than two decades after she was last seen on a catwalk, giving younger models a run for their money with her statuesque presence.

It’s not easy to put a new spin on something as clichéd as florals but Miuccia Prada managed to do it at her autumn-winter 2019 show in Milan, with a clever mix of flower prints and appliqués on dresses, skirts, coats and accessories.
