You are likely to be home more than usual right now, which makes this the ideal time for that soothing beauty ritual: the sheet mask. While some debate their efficacy compared with regular masks in jars, there is nothing like lying down wearing one at the end of a long day. We recommend storing them in the fridge to enhance their effect.

The SK-II Facial Treatment Mask (HK$640/six sheets, HK$950/10 sheets) is a favourite with celebrity make-up artists and their famous clients, who often use one before walking the red carpet to achieve that radiant glow with which the brand has become synonymous. Available at Sogo, Causeway Bay.

United States-based brand Tatcha finds inspiration in the skincare traditions of Japanese geishas. Its Luminous Dewy Skin Mask (HK$370 for a pack of four) is made with fermented green tea, rice and seaweed, which penetrate the skin via an ultra-fine microfibre sheet. Available at Joyce Beauty, Pacific Place, Admiralty.
