Missy Elliott in Alterego Mask Masks are here to stay so you better get used to having your face half covered for quite some time. Hip-hop queen Missy Elliott came up with an inventive idea to deal with this issue: she commissioned Derek Blanks, the founder of Alterego Mask, to create a mask in her likeness. “Lol these are my real eyes but the nose and lips is a face mask,” she captioned a selfie on Instagram. Alterego Masks sells reusable neoprene face coverings that customers can personalise by uploading images of themselves on the company’s website. Harry Styles in JW Anderson Fans of British singer Harry Styles dug up a pre-lockdown look from the star and turned it into a TikTok meme, recreating a colour-blocked patchwork cardigan from British label JW Anderson that the singer wore in February. In response to fans’ DIY versions of the garment, designer Jonathan Anderson, who founded the label, released the knit pattern on his website. “I am so impressed and incredibly humbled by this trend and everyone knitting the cardigan. I really wanted to show our appreciation so we are sharing the pattern with everyone. Keep it up!” Anderson wrote on his website. Lizzo in Mônot Finally, for a dose of old school glamour – the type of which we haven’t seen in months – let’s give it up for Lizzo. At a socially distanced virtual presentation of the BET Awards on June 28, the R&B singer wore a custom Mônot dress in black with a white ruffle cascading down one side that made it truly fabulous. Lizzo was lauded as the best female R&B/pop artist during the virtual ceremony.
