The lockdown has been going well for Adele, the Los Angeles-based British singer who recently underwent a body transformation that received a bit of unnecessary attention but also inspired her to revamp her personal style.

In a recent Instagram post, the singer channelled none other than Beyoncé by wearing the same crescent pattern from French label Marine Serre that Beyoncé sported in Black is King, the movie-like “visual album” that has just dropped on Disney Plus.

“Thank you Queen for always making us all feel so loved through your art,” wrote Adele, posing below a screen showing Beyoncé and her dancers in a similar outfit.

Adele and Beyoncé, who has worn Serre’s creations on different occasions, are just some of the celebrity fans of the nylon separates printed with a moon crescent pattern from the designer. Kylie Jenner and her daughter Stormi “twinned” in similar bodysuits while her sister Kendall, singer Dua Lipa and Jennie from Blackpink are also fans.

While some have pointed out the Islamic origin of the pattern and accused Serre of cultural appropriation at the beginning of her career, the designer has successfully, and tastefully, turned the moon crescent into her de facto logo. It now appears on products as varied as gloves, jeans and even face masks.
