An adult colouring book with a Hong Kong twist

Hongkongers Nisha Parmanand and Divia Harilela to launch whimsical colouring book with sketches by the likes of Johanna Ho, Barney Cheng, Denise Ho and Andre Fu

Most of us have, at some time or other, checked into La La Land – that dreamworld escape from reality. Now an enterprising duo have combined the concept with the current craze for adult colouring books, and added a local twist.

Hongkongers Nisha Parmanand and Divia Harilela are gearing up to launch La La Land, a whimsical 88-page colouring book featuring exclusive drawings by some of the city’s leading creative minds. Interior designers Andre Fu and Joyce Wang, fashion designers Barney Cheng Siu-leung and Johanna Ho Chi-yan, accessories designer Fiona Kotur and stylist Denise Ho are among those who were tasked with creating a sketch inspired by their own La La Land.

Fashion designer Barney Cheng has contributed to La La Land.

“I was amazed at how such a simple task of colouring made me so happy and relaxed,” Parmanand says. “As adults we live such stressful and hectic lives that we often forget to slow down. A colouring book seemed like the perfect creative outlet.”

Priced at HK$388, La La Land will launch at Lane Crawford on November 1 and is available at select retailers around the city, with 85 per cent of the proceeds from sales going to Ronald McDonald House Charities Hong Kong.
