Destinations known | TripAdvisor’s most reviewed hotel, restaurant and attraction, globally and in Hong Kong, as the travel site hits 1 billion reviews
- An American hotel, a Portuguese restaurant and a Spanish attraction top TripAdvisor’s most-reviewed lists in their respective categories worldwide
- In Hong Kong, you can find all three of its winners in Kowloon

Travel may not be as simple as it once was, but TripAdvisor has just reached a new milestone. The travel review site, which launched in February 2000, is now host to more than a billion reviews and opinions.
That equates to a lot of bubbles (which the site uses instead of stars)!
To mark the occasion, TripAdvisor has powered up its analytics tools to highlight some of its overachievers, in Hong Kong and elsewhere.
Hong Kong’s most-reviewed accommodation can be found in Tsim Sha Tsui. Hotel Icon, at the time of writing, had been reviewed 8,877 times, 5/5 bubbles running for page after page.
The city’s most-reviewed attraction is the venerable Star Ferry, with 24,467 posts and a rating of “#1 of 1,346 things to do in Hong Kong”. Imagine trying to explain the concept of an online review site to Dorabjee Naorojee Mithaiwala when he was establishing the Kowloon Ferry Company, in 1888!
