Louis XIII Royal Banquet at Grand Hyatt Macau

With a theme of "French Royal Baroque", the banquet offered a sneak peek of the decadence that businessman Stephen Hung envisioned for his luxury hotel, Louis XIII, due to open in 2016. The party saw an impressive turnout of more than 400 guests dressed to the nines - some opted for period costumes. Honorary guests included Princesse Tania de Bourbon Parme, an actual French royal descendant with whom Hung consults about the project.

Celebrities from Hong Kong including Angela Leong, Charles Chan, Michael Hui and Adrian Li joined Hung and his wife Deborah at the soiree. The ballroom in the Grand Hyatt was lavishly decorated like the Royal Court of King Louis XIII. The highlight of the night was an exclusive Graff Diamonds Jewellery Show, where more than HK$2 billion worth of diamonds were on display.

CHIT CHAT with Deborah Hung

How long did it take you to prepare the extravaganza?

We only started in April. I was really nervous. When we planned it, we wanted to do something nice, fun and proper. Since it's a party, guests need to enjoy and celebrate.

Was it more challenging than planning your own wedding?

They were both very stressful. Half of the people we have at this party were at our wedding too. Also, it's a very important moment for my husband. I'm wearing a Zuhair Murad couture dress for the special occasion.

Can you share with us the concept of the Louis XIII project?

We want something beyond luxurious. The hotel will be so comfortable that you'll feel totally at home. Shopping will also be fantastic - we'll have couture pieces which you won't find anywhere else.
