HAPPENINGS: For five seconds there, we didn't recognise actor Hugh Jackman at Montblanc's exclusive gala dinner at the historical Palazzo Vecchio. The star of series was sporting a new beard. His new look, thanks to his upcoming movie , turns out to be a great disguise for the star to roam the city of Florence discreetly.

With Jackman as a guest of honour, the night is not short of glamour. To launch the brand's made-in-Italy premium line of leather goods, Montblanc gave guests a glimpse of the origins of quality leather. Veteran craftsmen demonstrate different skills to create the line of leather accessories tailored for urban adventurers, including document cases, rucksacks and iPad sleeves. Stealing the spotlight is a female rider making a statement entrance on a handsome stallion.

CHIC CHAT with Hugh Jackman

How's filming going for Pan?
I’m enjoying it [because] no one recognises me.

What roles would appeal to you today?
I really wanted to do Les Misérables so I did it and enjoyed it. When I was a child, my dreams were being able to travel, having a job that allows me to travel. And here I am.

You are involved in a lot of social causes to alleviate poverty. Why?
My father is an accountant and he worked for a world bank. The job took him to Bangladesh. I grew up hearing him talking about the extreme poverty there being due to manmade problems. So I feel that if you are part of the problem, you are part of the solution. I try the best I can.
