What appeals to Carrie Bradshaw other than Manolo Blahnik heels? Fine jewellery, obviously. Sarah Jessica Parker, star of the stylish Sex and the City TV series and movies, has collaborated with Taiwanese fine jeweller Cindy Chao to create a brooch called the Ballerina Butterfly. The piece, which took the creative duo more than two years to complete, has a titanium and 18ct gold body, a 26.27ct brown diamond, 4,689 diamonds weighing over 98ct, and three pieces of conch pearls. The piece will be auctioned at Sotheby's Hong Kong Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite Sale on October 7, and the net proceeds from its sale will benefit the New York City Ballet.

Chao and Parker, who co-chair ballet's gala on September 23, will show the brooch at the New York event before the Hong Kong auction.
