Camera that took famous war photo to go under the hammer

The Leica camera, with which Russian photographer Yevgeny Khaldei took one of the most famous photographs of the second world war - "Raising a Flag over the Reichstag" - will be on offer at Bonhams' Leica Centenary Sale in Hong Kong in November. The image of Russian troops hoisting the hammer and sickle above the Reichstag, the German parliament building, in May 1945 became one of the most reproduced war photographs in the world.

The camera is expected to fetch HK$3 million to HK$4.5 million.
