Watchmaker launches app on classic yachts

Hoping to reach your target audience? Come up with an app. Luxury watchmaker Panerai has jumped on the bandwagon to launch an app for iPhone and iPad.

The app, however, is not about watches but classic yachts. Panerai has supported yachting for a long time. Since 2005, Panerai has sponsored some of the world's top classic yachting challenges. In 2007, the watchmaker restored a Bermudian ketch Eilean Corca 1036 to compete in races.

The newly-launched, aptly named Panerai Guide to Classic Yachts app introduces more than 500 classic yachts with detailed information about their origins. The app comes complete with illustrations and photographs. Some of the yachts are 100 years old.
