EVENT MOËT-AFA SPECIAL AWARDS CEREMONY
WHERE THE QUBE, PMQ

: The awards ceremony celebrated Asian cinema in style, bringing together the industry's elite to honour their contribution to the field. The AFA (Asian Film Awards) was inaugurated in 2007 to recognise diverse talents and films to showcase the industry's achievements in the region. This year, a panel consisting of members from the Busan International Film Festival, the Hong Kong International Film Festival and the Tokyo International Film Festival selected Hong Kong's Aaron Kwok as the Outstanding Asian Actor. Korean actor Lee Soo-hyuk and Chinese actress Wang Likun were also recognised as the Rising Stars of Asia.

The three guests-of-honour were joined by American singer-songwriter Jermaine Jackson, Malaysian actress Jacqueline Ch'ng and models Ana R, Jessica C and Angie Ng among others for a spectacular four-course gala dinner paired with Moët & Chandon vintage Champagnes. The prestigious brand also prepared a three-litre Moët & Chandon Golden Jeroboam for guests and celebrities to mark the special occasion with their autographs.

CHIC CHAT with Aaron Kwok

How do you feel about your award?

I'm very happy. It is fate because you don't always get recognition no matter how hard you work and how much you sacrifice. Today's award is an encouragement for me to continue to work hard.

What is the hardest movie role you've had so far?

I have just finished [filming] Monkey King, in which I play the lead role of Sun Wukong. It was the hardest role in my entire acting career, physically and mentally.

You are taking on more movie roles this year. Why do you like acting?

Acting is a lot like life. You have to keep learning in life, and when I play a role in a movie I'm also learning. I always learn something from the characters I portray.
