EVENT CARTIER HIGH JEWELLERY GALA DINNER

HAPPENINGS: It was a glitzy and glamorous affair. To celebrate the arrival of the new High Jewellery Royal collection in Hong Kong, CEO Stanislas de Quercize hosted a gala dinner, inviting some of city's most fashionable socialities to take a first look at more than 400 pieces of spectacular jewellery valued at more than HK$2.4 billion.
Spotted taking a night off from parent duty were Leonard and Candice Chao, who were dressed to the nines to mark the occasion. On the other hand, Claudine Ying joined her stepmother, former actress Brigitte Lin, who made a rare appearance at the event. Also in attendance were Kathy Chow with beau Julien Lepeu, Lynn Hsieh and Pace Wu.

Do you have any tips on how to get ready for a gala?
I get ready in 15 to 30 minutes. I like to do my own make-up, because I know [what suits] me best.
What style of jewellery do you prefer?
I like vintage pieces - something with a story behind. I also like cut diamonds. [My husband Leonard and I] sometimes come across stones when we are travelling and like to design our own jewellery.
Are there any pieces of jewellery you intend to pass on to the next generation?
Probably my engagement and wedding rings. The engagement ring was passed on by Leonard's grandmother, so I would like to keep that tradition and pass it on.
