EVENT Hong Kong First Initiative Foundation Charity Gala Dinner
WHERE Grand Hyatt, Hong Kong

: You can always count on Michelle Ong to throw a memorable party. The founder of Hong Kong's First Initiative Foundation organised another stellar soiree this year to prove us right. The night was kick-started by the charity's ambassador, pianist Chen Sa, jamming it up with French Diotima Quartet at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

Guests arrived for the gala dinner at the nearby Grand Hyatt ballroom. Celebrities and socialites including Canto-pop king Eason Chan, Bonnae Gokson and Peter Lam were spotted catching up with old friends at the pre-dinner cocktail while checking out the auction lots. The auction included coveted pieces such as a limited-edition Vacheron Constantin timepiece. Proceeds will go towards nurturing local talent and helping them shine on the global stage. Children Cantonese opera performers who have benefited from the foundation's educational programmes took to the stage and earned a round of applause across the ballroom.

CHIC CHAT with Chen Sa

We've seen many Chinese musicians launch to fame on the global stage. What do you think is the key support you need to do that?

Recognition is very important. What HKFIF is doing right now is also very important.

What is the importance of passing on knowledge through master classes?
