HAPPENINGS: New York fashion and accessories label Tory Burch has landed in Paris, with its first Parisian flagship store opening on Rue Saint-Honoré. To mark the occasion, founder Burch threw a lavish celebration. Guests including actresses Melanie Laurent, Jessica Alba and Emmanuelle Seigner appeared at the new store.

Following the cocktail event, the party continued in the garden of the Hotel de Sully in the Marais district. Fellow fashion designers Giambattista Valli, Olivier Rousteing and Jonathan Anderson showed up to congratulate Burch on her expansion to France. Guests enjoyed a Moroccan feast prepared by Fatéma Hal of restaurant La Mansouria inside a specially designed Maharaja tent, while rapper Q-Tip and singer Lauryn Hill provided the entertainment.

What's your must-have accessory this season?

The soft, pebbled leather Brody satchel - it is understated, elegant and incredibly versatile.

Tell us about your favourite places in Paris.

One of the beauties of Paris is that walking around without any destination is incredible - there's always so much to see. I also love the exhibits at Musée des Arts Décoratifs.

What's the significance of Paris to you?

Paris is a world fashion capital. As an American brand, having a flagship here is important for our global business.

What are your travel must-haves?

It depends on the location, but I often pack lightweight dresses, cardigans, cigarette pants and a printed scarf - versatile pieces that are easy to layer and wear from day to evening.
