HAPPENINGS: Swiss watchmaker Hublot collaborated with Hong Kong designer Dorian Ho to present his autumn menswear collection and the uniform he created for the watch company. The designer revealed the boutique uniform for Hublot's Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and mainland stores before his collection's debut.

Inspired by an ancient era, Dorian Ho used the primordial environment and creatures and the skeletons of dinosaurs to create his autumn/winter menswear collection. A lot of crystals, metallic and rustic stud elements are added to the detail of the suiting. The signature cropped pants go well with the suits and the tops.

Among the 250 socialites who attended the show, we spotted actress Christy Chung, celebrity yogi Almen Wong, football manager Luis Castro, socialite Anna Ueyama, actor Gregory Wong and singer/actor Ma Tianyu.

OVERHEARD This is one time I don’t mind looking like a dinosaur.

Chic chat with Dorian Ho

With a marketing background, do you focus more on the consumers?

Yes. The market needs of the fashion industry keep changing every season, thus, being market-orientated makes our menswear collections stay competitive.

How is designing ready-to-wear menswear different from womenswear?

Womenswear focuses more on the silhouette and the draping, and can be very unique within the same collection. For menswear, we are keen to use different fabrics, materials, beading and embroidery to make the pieces classy yet stand out at the same time.

What is your favourite style of watches?

They should be stylish but casual, can be worn daily, and can easily match any outfits.
