The star-studded amfAR gala kicked off the New York Fashion Week. Over US$2 million was raised at the annual ball to support amfAR's Aids research programmes. Guests including Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio, Uma Thurman, Blake Lively and more joined the gala to show their support. Harvey Keitel and Thurman opened the event while Kenneth Cole - chairman of the amfAR board - took the stage. Alexander Gilkes conducted the live auction with highlights such as Andy Warhol's screen print of Mick Jagger signed by Warhol and Jagger, and Harry Winston earrings. Grammy-nominated British pop sensation Charli XCX and Swedish DJ duo Icona Pop entertained the crowd.
