After previous seasons' partnerships with Moschino by Jeremy Scott, Hood by Air, and Korean designer Juun.J, Pitti Immagine Uomo 90 will announce another eclectic mix of one-of-a-kind events spanning cutting-edge urban labels, internationally renowned high-end designers, and classic gentlemen’s brands.
“Visions of Fashion”, the first exhibition covering the German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld’s entire photography career, will open on June 14 in the Palazzo Pitti. Curated by image director at Chanel fashion Eric Pfrunder and German publisher Gerhard Steidl, this exhibition will also display rare and unseen pictures of the fashion mogul.
On June 15, Comme des Garçons' Moscow-based protégé, Gosha Rubchinskiy will present his Spring-Summer 2017 collection as “Menswear Guest designer”.
He says: “I am very excited to have been given the opportunity to bring a new Russian Renaissance to such an historical city.” Rubchinskiy's aesthetic for post-Soviet Russian youth will also combine with a photographic project.
Former Christian Dior creative director Raf Simons will present “Florence Calling”, an event celebrating his return to his beloved city.
He explains: “Florence holds a special place in my heart as, over the years, I have regularly come back to show my work or to collaborate on ventures that closely mirrored my thoughts about it.”
On the evening of June 16, the Belgian designer will unveil his menswear Spring-Summer 2017 collection - and a special project.
For only three days, French jeweller and watchmaker Cartier showcases its male universe in the 15th-century Palazzo, in the heart of the city. The elegant new “Drive de Cartier” watch was first revealed during SIHH 2016. This time Cartier will open the doors of this family home, a place representing the savoir-faire passed down from generation to generation.
And last, but not least, Pitti Immagine Uomo has selected Hiroki Nakamura, founder and designer of the Japanese label Visvim as the Project Designer of its 90th edition. On June 16, the founder of the cult workwear favourite will present a total experience by Visvim, for the first time. The event will be a performance showing the men’s collection and a few looks for women.
