Swiss watchmaker RJ, formerly named Romain Jerome, unveils its first Horology collection, ARRAW, available for both men and women.

The unisex trend has been on the rise in recent years, with fashion houses like Saint Laurent, Tom Ford and Balenciaga switching to shows for both sexes. Watchmakers were, perhaps, always ahead of the game, offering women masculine-styled watches years before the runway ran with the non-binary theme.

The Geneva-based watchmaker has consistently brought out-of-the-box creativity to its timepieces, playing upon unorthodox collaborations with comic book superheroes or 8-bit video games. RJ has even extracted actual moon dust or steel from the Titanic for its novelty watches.

The new core collection, ARRAW, is inspired by one of RJ’s signature elements – the marine universe. Details include push-buttons inspired by pistons in an engine room, the helix shell engraving on the Grade 5 titanium, and the satin-brushed case back.

Being a marine-inspired collection, the watches have a water resistance of up to 100 metres.

But ARRAW also stays close to home, featuring the watchmaker’s DNA of RJ Bumpers. Four rubber bumpers around the case match the composite material of the lugs. The new watches are a subtle stamp of RJ ingenuity.
