Osaka, a sports star in her own right, is a two-time Grand Slam tennis champion, having won the US Open in 2018 and the Australian Open in 2019. A Netflix documentary of her life as a top athlete is in the works, and she is one of the most-awaited players in this year’s Tokyo Summer Olympics, where she is set to play, representing Japan.

And while the world knows her as the history-making tennis genius, Osaka has revealed she has another long-standing passion: she has loved fashion since she was a child.

Osaka shares on her Instagram how she and her older sister, Mari Osaka, also a tennis player, used to sketch designs in the back of their car en route to tennis tournaments. She said in her caption how it felt surreal to finally see these designs come to life – and see them on the runways at New York Fashion Week.
