What's hot in Korea

The dark, mysterious and suspense-filled Korean drama stars I.O.I’s Kim So-hye, Lee Shin-young – who stole fans hearts in Crash Landing On You – and Shin Seung-ho

Rookie actor Lee Shin-young, the good-looking soldier who stole the hearts of fans in Crash Landing on You, is back with a new drama, How to Buy a Friend, where he plays his first-ever lead role. Here's what we know about the show so far:

Ordinary guy

When Lee played North Korean soldier Park Kwang-beom in Crash Landing on You, he was awarded the “most handsome” person in the room by Yoon Se-ri, causing Captain Ri to be slightly jealous – and rightly so. In his new drama, the handsome Lee trades his military suit for a high school uniform, and fans await what new charms he will reveal.

In How to Buy a Friend, the actor takes on the role of an average schoolboy who writes poems, Park Chan-hong. “His biggest charm is the fact that he has a lot of consideration for others,” Lee told Soompi. As his character is just a regular guy, Lee also pointed out that “the standard of ‘ordinary’ is different from person to person” and so he intends to continuously study and think hard about how to portray Park Chan-hong well.

New recruits

Joining Lee in the drama are fellow rookie actors Kim So-hye and Shin Seung-ho in lead roles, who each have made good impressions in previous shows.
