Prince Harry and Meghan Markle move to LA – with Hollywood royalty for neighbours

The royal gasp was heard around the world when Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced they were taking a “step back” from the British royal family in January 2020 and would instead spend their time in North America. Although many presumed they would make Canada their future home – they had been staying with their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, on Vancouver Island – the royal couple has instead decided to settle in California.
Now that their monarchical ties have been cut (the official change of status started on March 31), what will life be like for the Sussexes in the City of Angels? Here’s what we know about what they’ve been up to since their move.
No one knows exactly where they live – yet
Due to the global pandemic, the Sussexes are sheltering in place, but no one really knows where that is. According to Forbes, they had been looking in the area of Malibu, the famous beachside area where Jennifer Aniston, Tom Hanks, Ellen DeGeneres, David Geffen, Leonardo DiCaprio and other entertainment industry moguls live.
According to People magazine: “They have been living in a secluded compound and haven’t ventured out amid the coronavirus pandemic.”
Family time
Although they have settled into their new home, they have yet to spend time with Meghan Markle’s mum, Doria Ragland. According to a source who spoke to Elle magazine, Meghan was said to be “absolutely heartbroken” about not seeing her mum because one of the reasons they moved to Los Angeles was to be near Ragland. But the order to shelter in place – and Doria’s vulnerability to the disease because of her age – has forced the royal couple to play it safe and stay home. “They've been WhatsApping and FaceTiming [each other] almost daily, but obviously it's not the same,” a source told The Sun.
