Why is Song-Song divorcee Song Hye-kyo selling her luxury Seoul estate for less than market value?

The property Song Hye-kyo owned with ex-husband Song Joong-ki sits in Samseong-dong, one of the most expensive neighbourhoods in the South Korean capital, and is listed for US$7 million
Actress Song Hye-kyo has put one of her luxury estates up for sale.
According to Koreaboo, Song owns a total of three properties in Samseong-dong, which is known as one of the most expensive neighbourhoods in Seoul. The first one she bought was valued at US$7.2 million at that time, the second one at US$2.5 million and the latest one at US$7.6 million. The actress also used to own a Manhattan flat in front of Central Park in New York, which she sold in 2018.
Earlier this month, she listed one of her Samseong-dong properties for about US$7 million. The stand-alone house, which has two floors and a basement, is located in a prime spot, nestled among other luxurious houses.
A property agent suggested the published price is lower than its actual worth, according to Koreaboo. And considering its location and value, the property agent speculated it may have been put up as an “emergency sale” because of its low asking price.
There were also rumours Song decided to sell the house because it held too many memories of her marriage to her former spouse, Song Joong-ki.
However, the allegations proved to be false. Song’s management spoke about the issue, saying in a report in Today Online: “That property was put up for sale a year ago and there was a misunderstanding that she wanted to sell it quickly, which caused speculation.”
While the house had famously been called the couple’s “honeymoon house”, residents who live nearby said “the house had been empty from the beginning”, according to Koreaboo.
Meanwhile, actress Song recently released her fashion photos with Suecomma Bonnie, featuring the brand’s summer 2020 collection. Following the theme “Summer in L.A”, the series portrays a youthful and glowing Song enjoying sunny views and the outdoor air in her simple-yet-stylish outfits.
