Heartbroken in Crash Landing on You, everyone loved it when her character declared, ‘Being single is the trend nowadays’, and it soon became the anthem of single ladies – now she’s back in a new K-drama

Seo Dan was the accidental star of the hit K-drama, Crash Landing on You. A woman who made her own rules, she was cold and unfriendly, yet admired for her elegant style and chaebol status.

Of course, the iconic Seo Dan wouldn’t have been possible if not for the acting skills of Seo Ji-hye. Many may not know that before Crash Landing on You, Seo had starred in many other films and dramas, won awards and now has a new one coming soon.

Seo was first noticed in the 2015 horror movie Voice, which was her film debut. In the same year, she starred in the period drama called Shin Don, based on the true life story of one of Korea’s most controversial leaders. Her portrayal of Princess No-kook would win her the new actress award.

In the 2014 legal drama Punch, the actress recalled in an Arirang interview, that her role was memorable as it shows a different side of her.

Seo joined the cast of Don’t Dare To Dream in 2016, with Gong Hyo-jin and Jo Jung-suk, where her acting prowess was again recognised. A memorable scene was Seo speaking straightforwardly to Jo as she invited him to drink – leaving Jo flustered.

On her performance, Seo shared her thoughts in The Korea Herald: “My impression on set was that the partner role, played by Jo Jung-suk, was a hard-nosed man. So I thought, I should out power this tough guy while acting.”

In 2018, Seo starred in the medical drama Surgeons. On the website HelloKpop, Seo disclosed how the drama gave her a newfound respect for medical workers. Had she not been an actress, Seo shared that she had wanted to become a doctor.
