In a vintage clip from TV series Glee , teacher Will Schuester (played by Matthew Morrison) asked the students where they will be in the year 2030. “Jail, or dead, or both,” one replied. Little did we know back then that fiction would become reality for some of the cast members of the popular TV show. Glee ended in 2015, but its stars are continuing to make headlines for all the wrong reasons. Here’s why many fans believe the cast of Glee is cursed... Naya Rivera: Found dead Just when we thought the Glee curse could not get any darker, it was reported that 33-year-old Naya Rivera was missing and presumed dead after her four-year-old son was found alone on a boat on a lake in Southern California on July 8. Police said that Rivera, who played a cheerleader in the show, had gone swimming with her son, who got back into the boat, but she mysteriously did not. The young boy was found wearing a life jacket but it is believed the actress was not as her life jacket was found on the boat, according to reports. Sadly, Naya’s body was found in the river on July 13. Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said at a news conference: “She must have mustered enough energy to get her son back on the boat, but not enough to save herself.” Cory Monteith: drug overdose In 2013, 31-year-old cast member Cory Monteith died from an accidental drug and alcohol overdose in a hotel room in Vancouver, Canada. The actor, who played Finn Hudson, was open about his struggles with addiction before his death, but fans were under the impression that he was doing well. Monteith's girlfriend and co-star Lea Michele said, “He was very special to me and also to the world and we were very lucky to witness his incredible talent, his handsome smile, and his beautiful, beautiful heart.” An autopsy revealed he died of an overdose of heroin and alcohol. Mark Salling: child pornography charges and suicide Mark Salling, who played Noah “Puck” Puckerman, made headlines all over the world when he pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography in 2017. According to court documents, he downloaded thousands of illicit images over eight months in 2015. A month after his guilty plea in 2018, aged 35, he was found dead in a forest after taking his own life. Co-star Naya Rivera, who once dated him, revealed in her memoir, “I can’t say I was totally shocked”, at the charges. “When Mark dumped me, I thought it was the worst thing ever, but can you imagine if that didn’t happen?” Lea Michele: slammed for toxic behaviour Unofficially the stand-out star of the show, Lea Michele seemed unscathed by the Glee curse until recently when a former co-star called her out on social media for her on-set behaviour. Former Glee co-star Samantha Ware claimed on Twitter that Lea was mean-spirited on set, and the post quickly went viral. Samantha claimed in a tweeted response to Lea, “LMAO remember when you made my first [television] gig a living hell?!?! Cause I'll never forget. I believe you told everyone that if [you] had the opportunity you would '**** in my wig!' amongst other traumatic microagressions that made me question a career in Hollywood …” Numerous cast members and Hollywood actors who have worked with Lea have since come forward to share their own stories of Lea’s mean-spirited behaviour. As a result of the allegations, meal-kit company HelloFresh dropped Lea as an ambassador, describing her actions as racist. Lea Michele and Heather Morris were some of the actresses that had their private pictures circulating on the internet without permission. Heather Morris recently revealed: “Over 10 years ago, some nude photos were leaked of me and many other actresses in the industry,” she wrote. “To say I was MORTIFIED is an understatement; my body was and still is part of my job and I felt like I couldn’t even walk around my workplace thinking that everyone had seen every single piece of me (a couple of snide comments from co-stars game [sic] my way which didn’t help).” Want more stories like this?
