Dr. Tirta, Sisil, Kai Mata, Ucita Pohan – 4 Indonesian influencers who talk openly about ‘deviant sex’, body-shaming and other culturally sensitive issues

These next-gen role models are challenging the government over their response to coronavirus, dispensing sex advice and advocating for gay rights and self-love
Welcome to wonderful Indonesia – home to the world-famous island of Bali, to batik and gamelan music, and of course food such as rendang, nasi goreng and sambal. This country prizes its traditions and cultures so highly that it can be difficult to go against the flow but here are some Instagram influencers breaking the mould who have been surprisingly welcomed with open arms.
Dr. Tirta @dr.tirta
In this strange time, some doctors and nurses have transcended their key worker roles to become celebrities. Dr. Tirta is one such. Young, and a sneakerhead when he’s not working, his dedication during the Covid-19 crisis has skyrocketed him to stardom.
Like other doctors the world over, he found himself contesting the advice given by his own government, openly talking about the dangers of the virus and insisting that a lockdown should happen (when the government hadn’t even released any statement on Covid-19, an offence punishable by law). He also challenged other influencers to use their money to help the country instead of continuously showing off their glamorous lifestyles.
Sisil @sisilism
Let's talk about sex. Easy enough in the western world but Indonesia is not the most liberal country when it comes to the subject.
