Is the Beverly Hills estate that former golden couple Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston spent 3 years renovating cursed? It’s been on the market for over a year: why is no one buying the US$44.5 million home?

This month would have been Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt’s 20th wedding anniversary, but alas, it was not to be. And now their former Los Angeles home, with an asking price of US$44.5 million, has been on the market for over a year.

It was first listed in May 2019 for US$49 million and got a US$4.5 million price cut in October 2019.

Aniston and Pitt bought the 12,000-square-foot California house for US$13.1 million in 2001 from entertainment lawyer Ken Ziffren and spent three years renovating it. The home's current owner, hedge-fund executive Jonathan Brooks, bought the home from the actors in 2006 after their divorce, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The home, described by the Journal as a “French Normandy Revival property”, has four bedrooms and comes with a swimming pool, ample outdoor space, and a championship tennis court. It's listed by Susan Smith of Hilton & Hyland.

At 12,000-square-foot, there’s plenty of room for Hollywood parties. The house is in Beverly Hills, one of Los Angeles' most upscale neighbourhoods. The area, beloved by celebrities, is about 18km from downtown and 21km from Los Angeles International Airport.

The four-bedroom house dates back to the 1930s. It was designed by the architect Wallace Neff for Fredric March and his wife, Florence Eldridge, who were both actors. Aniston and Pitt, who owned the home from 2001 to 2006, spent three years remodelling it and lived there for less than two years.
