Indonesia may be relatively conservative compared to the rest of Southeast Asia, but its upper echelon definitely rivals the elite societies of its neighbours. In 2019, the total net worth of the richest Indonesian tycoons came up to US$134.9 billion. This begs the question: who is in line to inherit THIS staggering wealth? The list is long but here’s our top five young, beautiful and crazy rich Indonesians.

Sabrina Joseph-Tan

Sabrina Joseph-Tan may have studied hospitality in Switzerland, but decided to pursue her love of fashion instead upon returning to Indonesia. With four friends, this ingénue founded HuntStreet, a platform that sells authentic, preloved high fashion and luxury items. When not too busy running her business, she oversees her non-profit organisation Catholic Fellowship Jakarta, which provides support for young professionals to grow and succeed in alignment with their faith.

Claudia Sondakh

For a billionaire heiress, Claudia Sondakh leads a relatively private life. She is a restaurateur who currently owns and runs the eclectic eatary Plentyfull in Singapore. Prior to delving into the F&B industry, the quiet beauty first developed her business acumen in fashion. With tycoons Peter Sondakh as her father and Evan Kwee as her husband, it’s no wonder she dares to take risks in her multipronged career.

Arya Bakrie

As the scion of one of Indonesia’s wealthiest families, the very low profile Arya Bakrie has a lot to treasure. After all, his uncle is the politician and businessman Aburizal Bakrie, whose net worth is estimated at US$2.1 billion. He himself is director of PT Bumi Resources Minerals Tbk (BRMS) and he also recently married his long-time lover, socialite Vannya Istarinda.

Felicia Kawilarang Aluwi

It’s hard to view Felicia Kawilarang Aluwi’s Instagram profile without going a little green with envy. When the vice-president of Halodoc’s marketing and communication department is not busy redefining Indonesia’s health care system, she spends as much time as she can travelling the world with her husband, Gojek founder and CEO Kevin Aluwi. Then, there’s also her savvy fashion choices, which are often minimalistic, subdued, and unbelievably chic.

Ronald Akili

If you’re a hip foodie in Indonesia, then there’s no way you won’t eventually encounter Ronald Akili. The versatile entrepreneur is the founder and owner of Bali’s famed beachfront eatery and event venue Potato Head, which started out first in Jakarta. The hip franchise has since expanded to Singapore and Hong Kong. The most noticeable thing about Akili is his love of art and design, which he no doubt inherited from his father, art collector and Akili Museum of Art founder, Rudy Akili.
