Actors making the leap from television to film is one thing, but going from the fashion runway to Hollywood is a little more difficult. A few famous silver screen names, however, started out strutting their stuff long before we saw their acting chops.

Channing Tatum’s Abercrombie & Fitch modelling days are fairly well known. Cara Delevingne and Jaime King, meanwhile, are former modelling royalty who walked runways for Burberry and Chanel before ditching their thriving couture careers to debut with small movie roles.

Some might consider the career switch to be a risky move, but many stars found that their gambles paid off. Brooke Shields scored an iconic role in The Blue Lagoon while Cameron Diaz and Charlize Theron have both earned their very own Hollywood Walk of Fame stars.
