Ever since her debut with idol group Miss A in 2010, Bae Suzy has been lauded for her beauty, being dubbed one of the “Nation’s First Loves” – a title she shares with only a handful of other South Korean stars. With her lovable personality, it’s no wonder that even other celebrities have declared their admiration for her, with Lee Jong-suk and BTOB’s Minhyuk even going so far as to call her their ideal woman.

It goes without saying that Suzy has had her fair share of handsome ex-boyfriends and rumoured romances, too. She might not be dating anyone at the moment – although viewers are surely enjoying her budding on-screen romance with Nam Joo-hyuk in TVN’s Start-Up but who has she previously gone out with, and which rumours has she flat-out denied?

Lee Min-ho

Even though he didn’t get to work with her directly, Boys Over Flowers star Lee Min-ho actively pursued Suzy, reportedly getting her number through an acquaintance. He was rejected multiple times until he eventually won her over.

In 2015, Korean news website Dispatch revealed photos of the couple in London along with plenty of details about their relationship. Apparently, after doing a fashion shoot in Paris, Min-ho jaunted over to London to spend three days with Suzy.

The couple eventually confirmed their relationship to their fans, and stayed together until the end of 2017, when they announced that they had broken up due to conflicting schedules.

In March 2018, Suzy and Guardian: The Lonely and Great God star Lee Dong-wook publicly announced their relationship. According to Korean entertainment website Koreaboo, their agencies rushed to confirm the news even though the two had just started dating because the paparazzi had already acquired photos of them together.
But the pair decided to split ways after only four months of dating. Suzy’s agency, JYP, also cited busy schedules as the cause. Some netizens took to labelling Suzy a “serial-dater” and “the Taylor Swift of South Korea”, referring to how she had broken up with two men in less than a year. Her fans swiftly came to her defence, however, pointing out that two confirmed relationships since her 2010 debut is hardly a string of heartbreaks.

Rumours of a relationship between Korea’s highest paid actor Kim Soo-hyun and Suzy began two years after the pair co-starred in 2011 teen musical K-drama Dream High. Fans noted that they had great chemistry together playing high school sweethearts. The pair have also appeared in other projects, such as My Love From the Star and Real.

In June 2013, during promotions for K-drama Gu Family Book, Suzy clarified that she and Kim were not dating, but simply friends who kept in touch from time to time. He reportedly reached out to her as he was familiar with the shoot location of the series.

Gu Family Book also fuelled rumours that Suzy was in a relationship with co-star Lee Seung-gi. Much like with Kim, fans loved the chemistry between the two. They also observed that Lee Seung-gi doesn’t typically get close to his female colleagues, but he had built a warm relationship with Suzy.

Seung-gi’s agency, Hook Entertainment, eventually denied the rumours, stating that he and Suzy are simply good friends. Soon after, Seung-gi confirmed his relationship with Girls’ Generation Im Yoon-ah, better known as Yoona. On talk show Healing Camp, Aren’t You Happy, Yoona shared that she harboured no jealousy nor ill feelings toward Suzy, despite the rumours. Suzy and Seung-gi eventually reunited to work on K-drama Vagabond in 2019.
