With Christmas just around the corner, meet the K-pop world’s very own Santa Claus – IU. Not only is she well-known for receiving plenty of presents from her fans , she’s also very generous with them herself, showering both her fans and her fellow idols with gifts. Here are just a few of the most luxurious and surprising presents IU has given to other K-pop stars over the years. To Twice: iPhones, Gucci rings and Chanel shoes IU’s love for her juniors in the industry is apparently endless. During a live broadcast that Twice’s Nayeon ran on K-pop community platform V Live, fans asked her to introduce the rings on her fingers, and she surprised them by pointing out that two are from IU. In another V Live broadcast, Sana talked about switching out her cracked phone for an iPhone that IU gave her. But what was the occasion for all this swag? In 2018, Twice made a guest appearance on IU’s solo concert – titled Dlwlrma, a nod to her cryptic social media handle – that marked IU’s 10-year anniversary. To thank them for their support, IU decided to give all the girl group members gifts: Gucci rings, iPhones and Chanel shoes. The members that didn’t have iPhones received iPhone X models, while those that did got shiny new pairs of trainers. IU even gifted fans who attended the concert with rings that she had designed herself. Lisa is the richest member of Blackpink – so how does she spend it? To G-Dragon: a fridge full of soju G-Dragon and IU have collaborated a number of times. G-Dragon fans will have recognised his voice in IU’s song Palette, while IU was a special guest at one of G-Dragon’s concert during his Act III: M.O. T. T. E World Tour in 2017, where she shared how thankful she was for G-Dragon’s advice and the work he contributed to her music. During the concert, G-Dragon said, “IU gave me a refrigerator as a surprise gift to show her appreciation. And more surprisingly, it was filled with soju. Those sojus were decorated with my photos with the line ‘pretty 30 years old’. I guess she wanted to encourage me [by saying] that I am still young and of the age that still looks ‘pretty’.” IU then commented that she wanted to encourage G-Dragon to enjoy himself before entering the military, as the concert took place just months before he was scheduled to enlist. To express his appreciation in return, G-Dragon sent IU a customised copy of her album “Palette” featuring drawings and decorations he did himself – a photo of which IU posted to her Instagram. To Lee Hyori: Victoria’s Secret underwear and banchans made by IU’s aunt Many K-pop stars featured on reality TV show Hyori’s Homestay , which was set in the home of celebrity couple Lee Hyori and Lee Sang-soon, including Park Bo-gum , Yoona from Girls’ Generation and IU, of course. The guest stars all had excellent chemistry with the show’s hosts, and presented them with various gifts. But among these different gifts that featured on the show, those from IU were particularly outstanding. First, IU shared banchans, or Korean side dishes, that were made by her aunt along with some drinks. Later, on the show’s finale, she gave Lee Hyori a pink shopping bag that would be instantly recognisable to fans of the brand, even making a cute comment suggesting that once the TV show ends, the couple would have plenty of private time to look forward to. Lee Hyori later opened the bag to reveal underwear from Victoria’s Secret. The couple answered her generosity with quite the gesture – sending a coffee truck to the set of K-drama My Mister while IU was filming!
