Melania Trump’s plans after the White House: a new school for Barron and a modelling comeback – but what next for her marriage to Donald Trump?

They’ve led a relatively quiet life in the White House but the public could be seeing a lot more from Melania Trump and son Barron once her husband Donald Trump leaves office. So what can we expect next from the first lady and family?

Melania infamously didn’t move into the White House right away in 2017 as she didn’t want to disrupt Barron Trump’s education. She’s putting the 14-year-old first in the 2021 move, too. Since Joe Biden was elected, Melania has been looking at schools in Florida, according to reports, ensuring minimal disruption for the teen’s learning, which has been partly remote due to the pandemic.

He’s set to leave his school in Potomac, Maryland, outside Washington DC and start at the prestigious Pine Crest in Fort Lauderdale.

Return to NYC?

Before moving to the capital, Melania renegotiated her prenup so she could get a better deal after Trump was unexpectedly elected, according to a book by Washington Post reporter Mary Jordan. She reportedly wanted to make sure Barron would get the same opportunities that have seen Donald Trump’s older children – Don Jr, Ivanka, Eric and Tiffany – achieve success in business and possibly put him in line for a mega inheritance too.
But the mother-of-one was also reluctant to say goodbye to the Big Apple. Sources have said that Melania never wanted a life in the political spotlight and even cried after her husband was elected because she was unhappy about having to leave her private and lavish life in New York City. Despite having the family penthouse at Trump Tower, the former fashion model also has her own flat on a lower level and has fond memories of living it up in the city with her BFF sister who lives just a few blocks away.

Impending divorce?

It’s long been reported that Melania and Donald sleep in separate beds, and it hasn’t taken body language experts to decipher when she hasn’t been best pleased with her husband, with memes of her refusing to hold his hand or being caught scowling at him circulating for years. But with his presidency coming to an end, some think she could finally leave Barron’s dad.
The Apprentice star and former Trump aide Omarosa Manigault Newman has said Melania is “counting every minute until he is out of office and she can divorce”, according to UK newspaper The Independent. However it’s unlikely she would be able to tell her story if they did break up as Donald has a non-disclosure agreement with his second wife, Marla Maples (Tiffany Trump’s mother) , and it is assumed he would have done the same with Melania.

Building her fortune

Leaving the role of first lady is when the big bucks can start coming in – just ask Michelle Obama or Hillary Clinton, who both landed major book and TV/film deals.

With her time in the White House spent on philanthropic efforts with her Be Best charity, Melania could continue to focus on helping people Barron’s age tackle online bullying. But secret recordings from her former best friend and adviser Stephanie Winston Wolkoff reveal she may still yearn for a return to modelling – Melania could be heard on tape apparently annoyed about Beyoncé’s September 2018 cover shoot in Vogue. Anna Wintour watch out.
