Mukesh and Nita Ambani have another special occasion to celebrate this holiday season, aside from Christmas – the birth of their first grandchild.

Their son Akash and his wife, Shloka Mehta, welcomed a baby boy earlier this month. The new parents confirmed the happy event in a statement.

But what’s the full story and how has the family marked the occasion? Here’s everything you need to know about Baby Ambani – the lucky little one born into the richest family in Asia, worth over US$76 billion.

The birth details

Baby Ambani was born at 11:40am on December 10 at the family’s Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai. The Ambanis reportedly returned to Mumbai from overseas just before Diwali. No other details – including the little one’s name – have been released.

Antilia turned blue

To celebrate the new baby, the sprawling Ambani family home, Antilia, was lit up in blue. In 2018, the Mumbai mansion was lit up in yellow to celebrate Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal’s wedding.

The Ambanis beaming with pride

In the statement released by the family, the Ambani clan said that “both mother and son are doing well” and that the new addition to the family has “brought immense joy to the entire Mehta and Ambani families”.
