Korean actor Hyun Bin might be 38 years old, but he’s still as hot as ever. He was selected as the first Korean global ambassador for luxury timepiece brand Omega this November and will also appear on the January 2021 cover of Esquire Korea, which will be available by the end of the month.

He also experienced a resurgence in popularity following the success of hit Netflix series Crash Landing on You, which he led alongside Son Ye-jin.

Such success has earned him plenty of wealth – his net worth is reportedly US$10 million – but how much does he earn per episode and endorsement exactly? Here’s what we know about the top actor’s riches and his secrets to managing his assets well.

Following his 2005 debut, Hyun earned US$27,000 per episode for the 2010 hit drama Secret Garden, which also featured actress Ha Ji-won. His rate reportedly went up to US$90,000 per episode by 2018. Phew!

As with most in-demand actors, Hyun has also become a top choice for endorsements. He made headlines with his endorsement earnings from the end of Secret Garden in January 2011 to 2012, accumulating US$2.9 million from eight deals. He’s appeared in numerous luxury commercial films since then – the latest one being for Omega.

While Hyun definitely knows how to make millions, he’s one to give away huge amounts to those in need, too. Earlier this year, the actor made a donation of about US$181,000 to the Community Chest of Korea to support the country’s efforts in managing the spread of Covid-19.

In 2013, Hyun received the president’s award at the 50th Savings Day event for having been able to save up about US$3.3 million. He was also recognised for his volunteer work and numerous donations to charity.

When it comes to managing his finances, Hyun has learned from the best. The actor hails from a well-off family who manage HB Family Holdings, investing their money wisely by developing buildings in key locations around Seoul. In 2014, the family bought a property for US$4.8 million – in cash.

Hyun also reportedly lives in a luxurious area in Heukseok-dong. His place of residence is said to be in a posh building called Mark Hills where other actors and idols, such as Lee Min-ho, sisters Krystal and Jessica Jung and Big Bang’s Daesung, also live.
