James Dyson holds the title of richest man in the UK, but the four Hinduja brothers aren’t far behind with a combined net worth of US$13.6 billion – but, much like the Ambani family, their fortune has been a source of bitter feuding

Everyone’s heard of the Ambani family thanks to their public feuds and lavish lifestyles that have made headlines time and time again. But what about the Hindujas, the second-richest family in the UK after tech entrepreneur James Dyson? The four siblings might boast a combined net worth of US$13.6 billion, but they have their own fair share of infighting and idiosyncrasies, too.

Here’s everything you need to know about Srichand Parmanand Hinduja, the enigmatic patriarch of the Hinduja clan.

He’s in a bitter legal dispute with his brothers over the family fortune

Remind you of anyone? Much like Mukesh Ambani, Srichand knows what it’s like to be the scion of a powerful Indian bloodline – with an enormous fortune at stake that’s caused rifts among relations.

Srichand – or S.P. as he’s also known – sits as chairperson of his family business, The Hinduja Group. His three younger brothers – Gopichand, Prakash and Ashok – are also heavily involved in the company, with the siblings stating that when it comes to ownership of the multinational conglomerate’s vast assets, “everything belongs to everyone and nothing belongs to anyone”.

But that all changed this June, when Srichand’s daughter Vinoo filed a lawsuit on his behalf, since the 85-year-old suffers from dementia. The lawsuit disputed a 2014 letter signed by the four brothers declaring that their assets were shared and controlled equally. Many wondered whether Srichand intended to attempt a power grab.
