Taylor Swift is no stranger to obsessive fans. During her 14 years in the industry, she’s had her fair share of stalking incidents. In September 2019 a fan even broke into her Rhode Island home by scaling the wall – the third such attempt that summer, police said – then took off his shoes “to be polite”.

Swift recently opened up to Elle magazine about the multiple stalking incidents she’s experienced: “Websites and tabloids have taken it upon themselves to post every home address I’ve ever had online. You get enough stalkers trying to break into your house and you kind of start prepping for bad things.”

Kendall Jenner had her own brush with a stalker who was caught trespassing on her property thrice before he was caught and deported back to Canada. According to TMZ, he scaled the mountainside to gain access to her home and was even found taking a dip in her swimming pool.

Jenner spoke up about the incident, blaming the media for sharing her home address. In a tweet to TMZ, the model said, “And how do you guys think these terrifying people know where my house is? Cuz you release not only photos but my location. It is so beyond unsafe. Is this not our one ounce of privacy we can get???”

Rihanna is another star who has been targeted by stalkers. In 2018, a 27-year-old fan jumped the fence outside Rihanna’s home and disabled the alarm system, allowing him to spend 12 hours inside. He was eventually discovered by her assistant, who shared that he had unpacked an overnight bag and was charging his phone. A year later, after accepting related charges, the stalker was ordered to stay away from the singer for 10 years.

Jennifer Lawrence

One overzealous fan eager to meet his idol Jennifer Lawrence decided that the best way to get in touch was through her brother, Blaine. The fan reportedly made phone calls and sent numerous texts to him under the alias “Ted”, offering to “protect” her and calling himself her “husband for life”.

When Blaine refused to connect the caller with Jennifer, the caller eventually started making threats about the “bad things” that would happen to her and her family. He was eventually taken into custody and hospitalised for psychiatric evaluation.

In 2011 Mark Zuckerberg obtained a restraining order against a 31-year-old man who repeatedly visited Facebook’s offices seeking a meeting with him, even sending flowers and handwritten notes to the social media mogul’s home address, writing in one “I am ready to die for you”.
