If you haven’t heard about Netflix’s new hit reality show Bling Empire by now, you must be living under a rock.

We’ve appreciated the antics of China-born star Kelly Mi Li – did you know she once produced a film with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son, Patrick? – but what about her main squeeze, Andrew Gray? That is, if he and our new favourite Asian female entrepreneur are even still together?

We did some digging – read on to find what we discovered.

He’s getting backlash for his behaviour on Bling Empire

The 33-year-old has come under intense online scrutiny since the show aired on January 15, with many in the Twittersphere commenting that Gray has all the traits of an emotionally abusive boyfriend. During a trip to Paris, for instance, Gray screamed at Mi Li over the phone simply for leaving their hotel to go shopping without him. (She didn’t ask him to come with her because he was sleeping in at the time.) Gray’s on-screen behaviour has even spurred calls for a trigger warning to be put on the show.

But crew members have come to Gray’s defence, including executive producer Jeff Jenkins, who wrote on Instagram, “What I do know is that Drew is a talented artist with a huge heart who, like all of us, is on a long journey of spiritual discovery and growth. It takes GUTS to share your life on camera. He is a warrior!”

Kevin Kreider, meanwhile, commented, “took courage to share yourself Drew, no matter which part of the journey you’re at.”

He’s the Red Power Ranger

Gray’s claim to fame is his role as Red Megaforce Ranger, Troy Burrows, in the Power Ranger Megaforce TV series and associated films, which are part of the long-running franchise.

In Bling Empire, Mi Li jokingly laments the fact that Gray had to wear a helmet in the Power Rangers series because, “I mean, look at him!”

Luckily for us, Gray shows off his chiselled cheekbones as a model for campaigns and editorial shoots. The Native American (Miwok Indian) and Mexican model has worked for big-name clients like Tanqueray Gin, Zara and Sony.

He and Mi Li share an adorable dog, Kilo

Although Bling Empire ended on a cliffhanger, with – spoiler alert – the status of Mi Li and Gray’s relationship remaining ambiguous, there are signs that Gray is still present in Mi Li’s life – namely, as co-parent to their adopted furbaby, Kilo.

Last September, Gray shared a photo of himself and Kilo on his social media accounts. It was liked by Mi Li on Instagram. They’re also still following each other on the platform, which suggests that they’ve at least stayed friends since the show was filmed in 2019.

The final clue as to whether the couple might still be together? An IMDB credit. Gray’s producer credits include an upcoming thriller called AMP House.

Speaking to Bustle, Mi Li also mentioned doing work for the movie. She said, “I’m in post-production right now for a little thriller that I shot during Covid called AMP House.”

As co-producers, the pair are most definitely on speaking terms, but is there more to it?

We’ll just have to wait until season 2 of Bling Empire – or for a leaked photo of the two of them together – to find out.
