After a stay at the VivaMayr medical centre, Rebel Wilson hired personal trainer Jono Castano Acero to get her in shape, and traded carbs and sugar for protein-rich meals – but still treated herself to In-N-Out Burger every now and then

Like most of us, Australian actress Rebel Wilson had less going on in 2020 due to Covid-19 – but she used the downtime to think about her health and reconsider her mindset regarding food.

The Pitch Perfect star spent last year developing healthier habits, and she has been lauded for her candid approach to the subject, documenting her journey on Instagram – including the less glamorous bits.

“I definitely think with the slow down, it did help,” she told People magazine . “I think I was emotional eating, and overeating at times, because I wasn’t loving myself enough either. And it does come down to that self worth and self love.”

But what were her goals, exactly, and how did she achieve them? From deciding on a goal weight to embarking on a new diet and fitness routine and even hiring a hunky trainer, this was Wilson’s “year of health”.

Putting her health first

 

At the start of 2020, the Aussie actress decided to dedicate herself to a “year of health”.

“I’ve been theming my years, so I had the year of fun, last year I had the year of love and this year I’m like, ‘It’s going to be the year of health’, because I turned 40 this year in March and I never really focused on my health,” Wilson said on The Drew Barrymore Show. “I think what I mainly suffered from was emotional eating and dealing with the stress of becoming famous internationally. … I guess my way of dealing with it was just like eating doughnuts.”
