It’s true, in many ways Anand reminds me of my father

A shared work ethic

Although she comes from one of the most-famous families in India and the couple had an extravagant US$100 million wedding at which Beyoncé even made an appearance, Isha and Anand seemingly try to keep things as normal and low-key as possible under their own gilded circumstances.

For them that stems in part from sharing the same work ethic. Both went to the US as students: she to Stanford University and he ultimately gaining an MBA from Harvard.

Since returning to India, Anand has built health care and property businesses, according to The Economic Times. Isha is today a director at two companies belonging to her father: Reliance Retail and Reliance JIO Infocomm Limited. She has also set up the Reliance Arts Foundation to promote Indian art internationally.

A spiritual side

Isha has said that her husband is the more spiritual of the two of them, something he gained from his parents. “From the beginning we were taught the Bhagavad Gita by our parents and the value of detachment,” he told Business Standard in an interview in 2015. “I want to create businesses, which do well as well as do good for society. My parents are great believers of sangat, which basically means we have to be in the company of good people to grow in life.”
